November 25 Newsletter – Pastor Bill

I heard a man on TV some time back talking about seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time. He said it filled him with a sense of awe and made him feel thankful. I watched a TV commercial where people stood around a table of food and everyone said something for which they were thankful. Both of those made me stop and think about where people are. The man gazing at the Grand Canyon was an atheist – but he felt thankful. So I wondered to whom is an atheist thankful? His thankfulness was a call from God. And for those gathered around the dinner table with family – who are they thankful to for all they have? Could the blessings be a calling card from God? Continue reading

International Missions Month – Thanks!

Hearing Michelle talk about a people group who had been in bondage to false teachings for 1,300 years really resonated with me. Hearing how the traditions of Islam had become so ingrained in the culture of these people helped me see the magnitude of what has to be overcome to tell them the freedom that is found in Jesus the Messiah. But then to hear how God moves His mighty hand when His people pray…God, please break down the walls and obstacles and open hearts by your Spirit! Continue reading

Spend time thanking Him this week for His goodness and all of the good things He does for you. I hope you have experienced His mercy and know that His love for you is an eternal love. I also hope that you love His Word and will spend time reading and studying the Bible. On Sunday, I shared with you a small portion of my Thanksgiving list. The sixth-century church leader, Gregory the Great, is often credited with listing the “seven deadly sins,” which include pride, anger, envy, greed, sloth, gluttony, and lust. In 2005 a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) conducted a poll asking respondents if this list was still relevant for today’s society. Of Gregory’s original list of seven sins, only greed was still considered a “relevant sin.” Continue reading
